Theo Giannou’s career in the pharmaceutical industry spans over 25 years, a number of multinational pharmaceutical companies and a variety of regulatory and business development roles.

During his last two roles as a regional PV head for Asia Pacific, at Baxter and Johnson& Johnson, he was responsible for building and developing PV capabilities, infrastructure and resources in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. He was responsible for ensuring compliance with PV regulations across pharmaceutical, consumer and device product categories and in his last role was responsible for merging pharmaceutical and consumer operations across Asia Pacific.

In these companies, Theo has left an indelible mark on the evolution of the pharmacovigilance (PV) safety sciences, regulations and standards, particularly in the last ten years. Based in Sydney and Shanghai, he has established PV infrastructure and systems from the bottom up, both at the local and regional level. During this time he has also been a tireless advocate for patient safety, engaging industry leaders and regulatory authorities to support the development of PV standards in Asia Pacific. 

Theo holds a Pharmacology and Biochemistry Science Degree from the University of Sydney, as well as a Master in Medical Science (Drug Development) from the University of New South Wales. He is also a Certified Executive Coach.
