Working With Stars: Meet Jen True, BSc Pharmacy

Jen True is an incredible project manager, a superb expert in PV (and beyond), and will deliver relentlessly high quality output. She keeps an eye on all projects and has played a big role in our success story. More amazingly, she worked on rehoming all her family in a place dear to her in Nebraska, where her family farmed the land for multiple generations. This is what we call "being grounded" and can explain many of her values...

How did you start working in PV?

It started as a bit of an accident, because someone recommended me for a PV role. I enjoyed it because it was a mix of using my clinical knowledge and learning the PV regulatory and regulatory compliance space.

Tell us one of your most rewarding professional experiences in PV

I enjoyed working with international affiliates at Abbott Labs, trying to help them become successful given their limited resources and the fact that they often held many roles beyond PV. This carried over into a love of consulting work at JPCC - helping small companies figure out how to manage PV given their varied situations.

What professional values and principles guide your work?

I apply a practical approach to ensure development of a solution that lasts. I make sure that things are done in a way that protects patient safety and is compliant with regulations. I believe being flexible and practical in how to approach things is key.

What would you change in PV if you had a magic wand?

If I could change anything related to PV, I would ensure everyone embraces the concepts of PV and views the PV function as a key partner helping product development succeed. But also, I would like to see the development of better tools to reduce the monotonous part of PV (better narratives, better transcription of data, transformation of data, etc.) - the activities that none of us like spending our time on...

What do you enjoy the most in your work?

I am a process person, so I enjoy developing the processes for Clients. Secondarily, I love organizing data: I like taking things that are messy and figuring out a way to present them in an orderly way!

What is it like to be part of JPCC?

I enjoy being a part of JPCC because we help clients in need – whether it's developing and implementing processes, evaluating a safety issue, or an inspection finding they need to react to, or just a desire to improve. I believe JPCC has such a good network of experts that I don't feel like I need to be the expert on everything; I can consult with other Associates on specific regulations or leverage their medical and scientific expertise.

What did you wanted to become when you were a child?

I wanted to become a veterinarian, but it was difficult for me to see animals in pain, so I ended up being a pharmacist instead.

What is the ideal project for you?

When I work for companies that respect what we bring to the table, not just as individuals, but our collective knowledge, and are open to hearing about different ways to do things or understanding how they could improve their PV activities.

What legacy do you want to be identified with?

I would like to be remembered for making a difference, whether through my professional work or my work in my community.
